Jane Lyon and Ron Holt hosted an indoor-outdoor wedding at Blue Ridge Kitchen Sebastopol California on Saturday, May 7, 2022. It was an honor and privilege for me, Alicia Parks, to document this sweet couple’s special day! Jane and Ron hosted both their ceremony and reception at Blue Ridge Kitchen. Although I’m willing to travel anywhere to capture weddings, I must admit – your guests love it when the ceremony and reception are at the same venue! Everybody loves convenience.
Jane and Ron invited guests to Flagship Taproom in Cotati, California for an informal welcome party the Friday night before their wedding at Blue Ridge Kitchen. While hosting a welcome party is not mandatory, I do think it’s a kind gesture. Consider this: You have friends and family traveling from all over the country and world for y-o-u. Why not celebrate their arrival with a few drinks and bites? I promise, you don’t have to break the bank account with a wedding welcome party. You can host it in your backyard or even at your favorite brewery. Either way, your guests will appreciate having another fun item on their wedding weekend agenda.
Many of us have been on bad first dates. But have you ever been on an amazing first date? Sometimes it happens, and when it does, pay attention. Because it might be your last first date!
Jane and Ron’s first date was one for the books. On Tuesday, July 3, 2018, Jane met Ron for a spontaneous first date at Lagunitas Brewing Co. in Petaluma, California. Jane was nervous. She even planned a clever get-out-of-date card to pull in case things did not go accordingly. Luckily, that card stayed in its deck.
Jane’s nerves melted upon meeting Ron in the parking lot of Lagunitas. They lost track of time talking, laughing and listening to live music together. After working on a goat farm in Hawaii, Jane moved to the bay area to pursue her love of food and dairy – cheese! Jane became a cheesemonger at Market Hall in Oaklandand moved to Petaluma to work for Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company. Ron grew up in Sonoma County and graduated from Sonoma State with a business degree. For work, among several other things, he’s been a consultant in the restaurant industry, owned and operated North Bay Brewery Tours and is now a self-taught web developer.
That night, Jane and Ron were the last people in the amphitheater at Lagunitas Brewing Co. So, they decided to keep the date going … forever.
When you’ve met “the one,” you’ll want to date them for the rest of your life. Keep scrolling to read more about Jane and Ron’s proposal and wedding at Blue Ridge Kitchen Sebastopol California.
Ron’s first “I love you” was uttered at midnight on Dec. 31, 2018.
Ron knew Jane was his better half by December of 2020. Can I press pause to say this: If you still love your partner in the midst of a pandemic, then that’s a very good sign that you can and should get married. Ron, an excellent reader of signs, bought an engagement ring and received Jane’s parents’ blessing.
The epic proposal plan began to set into motion on Dec. 31, 2020, aka New Year’s Eve. Ron and Jane returned to The Andiron Seaside Inn & Cabins in Little River, California (the location of their first vacation together) to celebrate the new year in a cozy redwoods cabin. Jane was blissfully unaware of the engagement ring’s existence as she ate melted cheese, sipped bubbly, played card games and snuggled up to her boo in a comfy pair of sweatpants. She was even able to sneak in a nap that day! #Goals
Jane and Ron joined the other Andiron guests for a socially distanced drink around the fire pit at 10:30 p.m. Over cocktails and conversation, they learned that two other couples had gotten engaged that day (cue Jane’s side eye and elbow to Ron’s ribs). Around 11:30 p.m., Ron ushered Jane back to the cabin to ring in the New Year.
This was Jane’s first and only hint that Ron had a surprise up his sleeve. Back at the cabin, Ron was determined to find a New Year’s Eve countdown. Twenty seconds before the ball dropped, Ron asked Jane to close her eyes and count down. When she opened her eyes, Ron was down on one knee holding an open engagement ring box.
The next few minutes were filled with hysterical laughter, crying, hugs, kisses, slapping and Jane telling Ron she hated him! In between the emotional chaos, Jane remembers saying “yes.” The words “you know I love you” are engraved on the engagement ring.

Trust me, Blue Ridge Kitchen is no ordinary restaurant. First, it is a fully renovated warehouse located in the heart of a historic apple cannery. Enough said. This restaurant-wedding venue combination has three beautiful, private event spaces. The lawn, where Jane and Ron said “I do,” features luscious green space and a 100-plus-year-old oak tree. Close your eyes and breathe in the smell of jasmine and willow climbing a 12-foot-high living fence that encloses the outdoor space.
Inside Blue Ridge Kitchen, you’ll find a spacious event area with four glass doors that can be rolled up to create an al fresco ambiance. Exposed wood ceilings, textured concrete floors and rustic-chic barn wood wall treatments make this one of Sebastopol, California’s coolest wedding venue options. But wait, there’s more. Imagine hosting a cocktail hour or your reception under the stars on Blue Ridge Kitchen’s Terrace.
The Lawn: Seated reception 300-plus, cocktail-style reception 450, ceremony 300
The Warehouse: Seated reception 200, cocktail-style reception 300, dancing 300
The Terrace: Seated reception 270, cocktail-style reception 300, dancing 300
Blue Ridge Kitchen’s menu is made up of seasonal, Chef-inspired large and small plates, perfect for family-style sharing. Which is exactly what Jane and Ron did for their wedding reception dinner. True to the couple’s taste and style, Blue Ridge Kitchen serves elevated dishes with the approachability of your mother’s home.
P.S. Blue Ridge Kitchen opened in summer of 2020. That means this wedding venue is fairly new! Blue Ridge Kitchen Event Venue is still a hidden gem when it comes to desirable Sonoma County wedding venues!
Jane and Ron’s outdoor wedding ceremony at Blue Ridge Kitchen Sebastopol California began promptly at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022.
